Every day, The Philadelphia Fire Department responds to hundreds or even thousands of locations to deal with an array of emergencies.
Currently, the Fire Department has little ‘situational awareness’ of fire risk for a given location when an emergency call comes in.
In this project, we aim to improve this situation by creating a new API tool, which can return two deliverables for each property in the city:
1. Parcel-level information for the building on fire and surrounding buildings
2. Parcel-level (building) fire risk assessment based on the city’s existing open datasets and past fire events
In addition, we want to let residents get a real-time update of the fire risk of their houses so they will have a situational awareness on risk for each property citywide.
Instructions:
1. Input a street address and hit the "Go" button.
2. A red marker representing the parcel will show up on the map, surrounded by some grey markers, which represented nearby parcels.
3. Click on one of the grey marker and it will automatically request data of that parcel. You can also input another address for a new request.
